things i have learnt from my cat.. part 2

hmmm well since my kitty has gone missing.. and tears have been shed and much frustration and sadness over missing him and wondering about his whereabouts… i suppose my next lesson is FAITH. i refuse to believe he is dead (and my instincts tell my otherwise) and actually have faith he will return. i send him love. and light. and hold him in my heart. dear henry i miss you so. and love you dearly.. come home soon… i hope you are safe. i have been envisioning him returning safely. and tomorrow i talk to animal instincts woman Leah Anderson. (www.animalinstincts.com.au) and im sure she will give me some more advice. i was referred to her by a good friend…thanks kelly…. fingers crossed and much much faith… thanks henry…

Thoreau

to quote Henry Thoreau…

“If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life which you have imagined, you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Real mastery, and psychological health and happiness is gained by paying attention to one’s feelings, one’s dreams, and taking risks.

Who is this guy?

Awesome.

want to stand out from others?

RULES to becoming an exceptional human being and make yourself stand out from the masses.

1. learn to spell DEFINITELY.

really. just do it. it’s not that hard. do it now, three times.. d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y

one thing to remember.. IT doesnt have an A in it. really. it doesn’t. NOT ONE.

like INFINITY and FINITE. NO A’s either. simple.

2. Remember that A LOT is TWO yes 2 words! NEVER, EVER write ‘alot’.

EVER AGAIN. so three times now ….a (SPACE BAR) lot.

ahhh life is sooo simple isn’t it

Nelson Mandela’s birthday!

If you don’t know who Nelson Mandela is, read this. He is 90 today. Note, he credits Ghandi as a huge inspiration, and as Ben Kingsley (who played Ghandi in the Academy Award winning movie in 1982) pointed out recently in an interview with David Letterman, that while Stalin and Hitler were wreaking havoc and death upon the earth, Ghandi was liberating millions of Indians and teaching the art of non violent protest. GENIUS.

Cheers to Nelson Mandela and Ghandi then. If you haven’t already realised, wikipedia is a kind of godsend to me… an amazing resource at our lucky privileged fingertips… when you use the internet today remember, what percentage of the world have access to the luxuries you do… clean water? fresh food? access to housing? freedom of expression? Give thanks today for what you have… adopt an attitude of gratitude… it’s very becoming…

I asked my students today, when you die, how long will your entry be in Wikipedia? And what will it say about the person you were?

I invent and collect words..

I invented/rediscovered two words this week.

One by accident. I was trying to say HISTORY and MYSTERY simultaneously. It sounded like this …HERMYSTERIES. I decided then, that it was a new word. I was in Borders cafe using their bookshop like a library (great way to read books for free…) when my best friend, Shannon Doherty, (not her real name) looked at me quizzically when this word came out of my mouth.. so I quickly explained…

HERMYSTERIES a. refers to Historical Mysteries as a genre. eg. (To Borders staff) “Can you point me in the direction of where the Hermystery section is?” OR, b. usually more specifically, it refers to women’s mysterious history stories, as history tends to be dominated by stories of men (his-story)

sure it’s a little bit.. ohh too feminist and up there with one of those things that causes feminists to get laughed at.. like spelling women with a Y. .. but.. i like it nonetheless. my word. not spelling women with a y.

WORD 2.

The second word I invented to later discover it already was a word… is…

EVITABLE (ant. inevitable) This was a slightly more discussed word. Shannon Doherty and my rock n roll mate, Ozzy Osborne (also, not his real name) debated thus… As inevitable means something that definitely WILL happen, then ipso facto, evitable means something that can be avoided, may or may not happen and may or may not even exist!

If, as my mate Ozzy Osbourne (not his real name) said ” ‘inevitable’ is a curse”, as it puts future events out of control of the hands of the speaker (eg. it’s inevitable that I will get a cold this winter) … then evitable is power. The truth is, it’s EVITABLE whether you will get a cold this winter. It hasnt happened yet and as thought is creative, what you think comes true, then, choose whether you want something to happen or not.

you have nothing to lose, except of course if you tell someone and then are proved wrong.. then you get the INEVITABLE ‘i told you so’ hoo haa…

hmmm…

thought is creative and it is suggested you keep your mind control experiments to yourself…

I love SARK

If you don’t know who SARK is, I highly recommend seeking her books and words out. She has the power to make you smile no matter how depressed you might be feeling! Really. Seriously. She is the most in touch with her joyous inner child adult I know. Vicariously.

watching my thoughts, watching my watch

Truth and wisdom really can be found EVERYWHERE!!

WATCH your thoughts is an oft heard phrase when it comes to mediation… but the other day I heard this great way of thinking about WATCH. what watch really is…

W = words

A = actions

T = thoughts

C = character

H = heart

… watching these things is an every moment thing… now everytime I look at my watch, I think.. ‘words actions thoughts character heart’ – it always puts me back into my body and feelings and I do my best to develop compassion, for myself and for the world around me. regardless of the time!

Psychology of Cats

PSYCHOLOGY OF CATS

Henry is my cat. His name is Henry the 9th. His full name is Henry Arturio Miaowy Bransgrove, the 9th. He is an absolute pacifist. Even when the dog comes up really close to him and if he can’t run away, he simply raises his paw and claws retracted, waves. He sleeps upside down, likes his belly being rubbed, and his paws kissed. He is as soft as a rabbit, I like to think of him as a little silky soft Ghandi, in a fur coat. He has taught me lots and I have only had him for 3 weeks. He was in a cage destined for the gas chamber. When we met, he threw himself at his cage bars and rolled upside down and miaowed at me to hug him. Cute, I know. If you don’t like cats, I think it’s due to you probably not being in touch with your intuition and psychic senses. Cats talk to you with their minds and bodies. They are extremely sensitive and intellgent. Humans can learn a lot from cats. I wrote this, inspired by Henry the 9th.

Everything I know about life, I learnt from my cat.

  • INVESTIGATE
  • give love
  • BE CURIOUS,
  • enjoy being stroked,
  • sleep in the sun,
  • smell things first if you are not sure you will like it or not,
  • stretch often,
  • groom yourself with love,
  • incorporate stretching into your daily movements,
  • suspend your beliefs and PLAY,
  • WATCH intently
  • plan your attack thoroughly,
  • use the element of surprise,
  • walk silently and slowly,
  • send kisses by blinking dreamily,
  • sleep as much as you need whenever you need.
